Which finishes are available in the black wood wall panels collection?

Choose from Black Ash, Black Oak, Charcoal, and Black (Wrapped) finishes. The collection also includes Akupixel in Black Ash and Rustic Smoked Oak.

Are black acoustic wall panels good for reducing echo?

Yes. These black wood wall panels use the Akupanel slatted design, which helps reduce echo while adding warmth and depth to the room.

Can black acoustic wall panels achieve Class A sound absorption?

They can achieve Class A sound absorption when installed on battens with mineral wool behind the panel. A panel mounted flat on a wall should not be described as Class A.

What sizes do the black wood wall panels come in?

Most Akupanels in this collection measure 240 x 60 cm. Black Ash is also available in 300 x 60 cm, while Akupixel panels measure 60 x 60 cm.

Can I use black wood wall panels on a ceiling?

Yes. The Natural Wood, Wood-Like, and Coloured Akupanel options in the black wood wall panels collection work on both walls and ceilings.

What is the difference between Black Ash and Black Oak Akupanels?

Black Ash is a Natural Wood Akupanel with real wood veneer on every slat, so each panel has its own variation. Black Oak is a Wood-Like Akupanel that gives you a more consistent wood-inspired finish.

Can I add Create accessories to Black Ash Akupanels?

Yes. The Natural Wood Black Ash Akupanel pairs with Create accessories, so you can make the wall work with the rest of your space.

Black Wood Wall Panels

Make a bold statement with black wood wall panels. Deep and dramatic, they turn a wall into the centerpiece of the room and give modern interiors real edge. A striking look that also softens the sound around it.

Black wood wall panels for a bold, modern wall

Nothing anchors a room quite like black. A black slat wall feels confident and contemporary, and it makes everything in front of it stand out, from a bright sofa to a mounted screen. It is a favorite for media walls, entryways, and feature walls where you want instant impact. The look is dramatic, modern, and full of character.

Choose between real wood veneer, wood-like, and colored finishes

To match your exact styling needs, this collection brings together the darkest finishes across our ranges, including black oak, black ash, and deep charcoal. If you want genuine texture, our natural wood panels use handpicked real veneer, meaning no two slats are exactly alike. If you prefer a completely uniform appearance, our wood-like series features a high-quality foiled surface with a printed wood look, while our colored panels offer a smooth, high-quality foiled surface or laminated finish with no natural variations.

Strong looks, calmer sound

A black wall grabs attention, and it also helps calm the room. Behind every slat sits an Acoustic felt made of 50% recycled plastic (PET), which catches sound waves and breaks them up to reduce echo. Installed correctly, with battens and mineral wool behind the panels, black Akupanels reach Class A sound absorption. Bold on the eye, gentle on the ear.

Build on it with Create accessories

A black wall is a powerful base, and WoodUpp Create helps you shape it around your life. The accessories fit neatly between the slats, so you can add function while keeping the sharp, clean lines. It is an easy way to complete the space and make a dramatic wall feel entirely your own.

Simple DIY installation

Fitting black Akupanels is a friendly DIY job. Cut each panel to size with a fine-tooth saw and a utility knife, then fix it to the wall with screws or glue. A standard panel measures 240 x 60 cm (94 1/2 x 23 5/8 inches) and is 22 mm (7/8 inch) thick, so planning your wall is easy. A bold feature wall is a satisfying weekend project.

Made in Denmark and the USA

WoodUpp is a Scandinavian design brand, and our panels are made in our own facilities in Denmark and in Mount Airy, USA. Dark walls are easy to maintain. Dust with a soft brush, vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment, or wipe with a hard-wrung cloth. There is no oil to apply, so your striking wall keeps its edge with minimal effort.
