WoodUpp™ Akupanel
Inspiration
The Akupanel was created to improve people's favourite rooms. If you have ever been in a room with bad acoustics, you know the problem - bad acoustics can drive you crazy!
But now you can do something about it and improve the overall appearance of your room at the same time.
Imagine a slatted wall on a front wall in your living room or on your ceiling. Not only would it absorb sound - it would certainly bring you a steady stream of compliments from everyone who sees it.
You can filter the images by room and use
You can use our new function to find out which colour is the best for you: Take a photo, select a product and the panels will appear on your wall.
Your next project starts here. Order a sample box so you can see, feel and choose the perfect colour for your new favourite wall.

Acoustic
Do you find it hard to hear what people are saying? Problems with poor acoustics are a big problem in many rooms, but a slatted wall or ceiling allows you to create acoustic comfort for yourself and the people you surround yourself with.
Sound is made up of waves and when sound hits a hard surface, it is still reflected back into the room, causing reverberation. The acoustic panels, however, break and absorb the sound waves when the sound hits the felt and the slats. This prevents the sound from being reflected back into the room, which ultimately eliminates reverberation.
"Can you say that again, please?" will be a phrase from the past. In rooms with little reverberation it is easier to hear what people say.
Staying in an environment with poor acoustics can have negative effects on your health and general well-being. The elimination of reverberation has significant health benefits.

Product specification
The Akupanel measures 2400 x 600 mm and consists of slats 11 mm deep and 27 mm wide, with a 13 mm gap between them. The slats are mounted on a base of acoustic felt. The newly developed acoustic felt is made of recycled material and is 9 mm thick. The panel is 22 mm thick in total, including the slats and the felt.

Strength
In an official sound test our Akupanel achieved the highest possible rating - sound class A. To achieve sound class A, you must place mineral wool behind the panels (see our installation instructions). However, you can also install the panels directly on the wall, in which case the panels achieve sound class D, which is also very effective in reducing sound.
As you can see from the graph, the panels are most effective at frequencies between 300 Hz and 2000 Hz, which is the usual sound levels experienced by most people. In reality, this means that the panels dampen both high and low sounds. The graphic above is based on acoustic panels mounted on a 45 mm thick strip with mineral wool behind the panels.

Felt made of recycled plastic bottles
Our acoustical felt is made from recycled plastic, which means we take a waste product and turn it into something useful and beautiful.
The felt is designed to absorb the sound waves and dampen the sound.
MDF board
Our core consists of a medium density fibreboard and is available in black or natural.
The slats create diffusion, which essentially means that they break the sound waves and thereby dampen the sound.
Wood from sustainable forestry
All the wood we use comes from sustainable forestry, which ensures that the forest can reproduce more trees than cutted.
In addition, our supplier provides good working conditions for the people working in the forest, while protecting and respecting the wildlife in the forest.
Every day, tons of plastic ends up in our oceans. This is a big problem.
Fortunately, we have found a way to use it in our Akupanel. The felt in our panels is made of recycled plastic (mainly plastic bottles), which prevents a lot of plastic from getting into the oceans. Pretty cool, isn't it?

This is not too much of a problem, the panels can be butted up to each-other, to achieve any length you desire. We have an example of this on Instagram – Clik here
Of course. Mounting the panels directly to the wall is not a problem however if you would like to achieve the best acoustic coefficient, you will need to use the batten system as set out in our installation guide.
Delivery time is approximately 3-5 days.
No. We only have a standard size of 240 cm 60 cm x 2,2 cm. However, the panels can be cut to make it fit any surface. Furthermore the panels can be mounted in extension of each other if needed.
We have an office near Loughton, Essex. We have some of the panels in our warehouse that you are able to view, upon request however the office is not manned by our staff at all times.
